Investment knowledge can take you on an amazing journey

Investment knowledge is key for growth and we aren’t alone in this point of view.
“In investing, what is comfortable is rarely profitable.” – Robert Arnott “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” – Benjamin Franklin “Invest in yourself. Your career is the engine of your wealth.” – Paul Clitheroe

How about we start with how did you get into investing?

I started attending Durham REI meetings and it was way over my head. I sat there about six months, had no idea what was happening, and then I finally started getting the lingo down. We bought our first property in 2012 and it wasn’t legal. We learned very quickly about the legalization process and went through that. It was successful. We had great contractors which really helped. We bought four properties, my partner and myself since, and I bought my own as well in Coburg this past year.

Of those properties, how many of them were with Doors to Wealth?

Of the properties, four of them were with Doors to Wealth. Michael has been an inspiration. He has been awesome in guiding people through exactly what they need to do. It’s been really great to be able to walk into that process and not have any glitches.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the property tours have you gone on and what do you get out of them?

I’ve been actually on quite a few of the property tours, and even when I’m not looking for one just to know what’s going on in the market and what’s out there and see what the experience is because I’m interested in growing my book and growing my portfolio. So just to get some feeling for the neighbourhoods and stuff like that. Michael is great at doing that kind of stuff. I feel like even learning from other people on that tour has been amazing.

Michael sends out a property report. Do you read it on a regular basis?

I do read it on a regular basis. I like to see out of the group who’s been buying which is really cool because I’m like, “Damn, they’re up a property on me,” or whatever. It’s just the information that comes out, and he’s sitting on all the meeting and the boards, and the councils, and something like that. I’m intrigued to know what’s going on in the communities, so I definitely read from cover to cover. Doors To Wealth is a great place to start. If you follow exactly what they tell you to do, you’ll be successful.
