My name’s Kris Lewis. I got into real estate investing because of Michael. My wife and I were living in Mississauga at the time. We had a couple of pre-construction condos. I didn’t really know a lot about investing. I heard a podcast and Michael was the guest speaker and I gave him a call. We met two weeks later, went on a couple of real estate investing tours and bought our first property.

You mentioned the real estate investing tours. Do you still go on the tours?

I no longer go on the tours, but as far as our development, they were instrumental. We were basically speaking to people who were doing exactly what we wanted to do. People were very open. It was a lot less competitive than I thought it would be. At the end of the day, we pulled the trigger pretty quickly.

What advice would you give someone who’s getting into investing?

Don’t be afraid, just do it. It’ll change your life. It’s changed our life completely. Initially, my wife and I, we thought we were going to work for a company for 30 years, retire at 65 and ride off into the sunset. Now we’re talking five years, 10 years, so it completely changes your life.

If someone were to come to you, either a new investor or new to an area and they have been investing in other places, would you recommend the Doors To Wealth family?

Absolutely, I think the best thing about the Doors to Wealth family, is that they’re all investors themselves. They’re doing things that many newbie investors may be too afraid to do, may not have enough information, or enough of a network to do so. So absolutely, without a doubt.

In the time that you’ve been investing and knowing Doors To Wealth. How much has your network within that world grown?

It’s grown astronomically. The fact that you’re going on real estate investing tours with other investors who are at different phases. Some people have bought one property, other people on their 20th property. You are with realtors who are also investors themselves. I feel like they naturally share their networks with you and everybody wins. It’s not a competitive type of environment. It’s everybody wins.
